As many of our swimmers and families know, Dungarvan Barracudas has been actively supporting the call for a public indoor swimming pool in Dungarvan. With growing demand for swimming lessons, water safety training and competitive programmes, the need for a year-round facility is now stronger than ever.
Why the Pool Is Still a Critical Need
Dungarvan remains one of the largest towns in Ireland without a public indoor pool. That affects:
- school swimming lessons
- access for beginners
- water-safety training
- adults looking for fitness
- rehabilitation and low-impact exercise
- our own club’s ability to take in new members
Every week, we receive interest from families and swimmers we simply cannot accommodate due to limited lane time. A public pool would change that — not just for the club, but for the whole town.
Progress Is Happening — But Community Voices Matter
There has been renewed public conversation, community discussion, and local engagement in recent months. Parents, teachers, businesses and sports groups across West Waterford are speaking up.
The more voices involved, the more momentum the campaign gains.
That’s where you come in.
