Welcome to Dungarvan Barracudas

the home of swimming for Dungarvan and West Waterford. We’re a vibrant, community-driven club that supports swimmers of every age, stage and background — from complete beginners taking their first confident strokes, to juniors developing technique, to experienced sea-swimmers, masters, and competitive athletes training for galas and championships.

Our mission is simple: to make swimming safe, enjoyable and accessible for everyone. Through structured coaching, progressive training pathways and a supportive team culture, we help swimmers build strong skills, lifelong fitness, personal discipline and genuine community pride. Whether you’re here to learn, improve, compete, or simply enjoy the water, Dungarvan Barracudas is a place where you can grow, belong, and achieve your best.

Gala Results & Events

We host and attend a full calendar of swimming galas and competitions throughout the year, giving our swimmers regular opportunities to test their skills, gain confidence and enjoy the excitement of race days. From local club meets to regional and national events, our swimmers proudly represent Dungarvan Barracudas at every level.

All gala results, timetables, reports and photo galleries are published online so families can follow progress, celebrate achievements and keep up to date with upcoming events. Stay connected with our latest results and browse the upcoming gala calendar to see what’s next for our swimmers.

Community & Club Life

Dungarvan Barracudas are community-driven — we run sea-swim camps, volunteer at local events and work with Waterford sports partners to grow swimming in the area. The club has actively supported calls for a public indoor pool in Dungarvan to benefit the whole region. These activities make us more than just a swim club!

Our club represents over 150 swimmers and countless families, yet our coastal town remains one of the few in Ireland without a public, affordable swimming pool. Despite popular demand, signed petitions, and a clear commitment in the Waterford County Development Plan for a 25 m community pool, the project remains unrealised. We continue to call on the local authority to support a public pool — not just for competitive swimming, but for sea-safety, learn-to-swim, community health, schools, older people, and families. A public pool would benefit everyone, not only club members.
